Christ the King

This weekend, we reach the end of another liturgical year celebrating the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. In our readings we hear Jesus being questioned by Pilot and responds with how He views His kingdom. He shares that His Kingdom is a heavenly Kingdom but belongs in this world. He challenges us that “everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.” This statement should have us pause and reflect; do I listen to His voice? Do we belong to the community of truth that listens and follows Jesus? We all want to answer yes and strive to follow Him every day! Let us examine what Jesus is asking of us. Do we strive to have a relationship with Him above ALL other things/distractions? Do we reflect love and justice? Do we include Him in our decision making always? Do we come to Him for rest and refreshment or seek other things? Do we love all peoples and seek the common good? These are just a few questions to reflect on and stretch ourselves to grow in His discipleship as we begin Advent next weekend. May we praise Him for all our blessings, look for Him amid our daily lives, and listen to the truth in all things!
